Public Initiative Events
SBL’s public initiatives program brings bible scholarship to new audiences as part of our mission to foster biblical scholarship. The goal of this broader engagement is to cultivate the profession and encourage critical readings and enjoyment of biblical literature among high school teachers, high school students, clergy and others. We also seek to connect the best in biblical scholarship with current events and social issues.

Regional Meetings
The Society has eleven regional groups. These groups are autonomous groups of SBL members who have come together to meet locally. Some groups are affiliated with other biblical and religious societies. See more SBL Regions information here.

Any SBL member may attend any Regional Meeting but information is only sent automatically to members within the region.
